About Me

Hi!

I'm Michelle Ratz-McGuire

I’ve been a registered massage therapist since 2010 and have provided thousands of hours of therapy for clients of all shapes, sizes, and abilities.

My mission is simple: I want you to feel better, move better, and reconnect with yourself.

As a person who exists in a larger body, I felt the need to create a safe, inclusive space that promotes pain and stress relief. I want you to leave my treatment room feeling great, connected with your body, and at peace.

I have extensive training in a multitude of modalities and techniques, and I put that knowledge to work by designing a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan to meet your goals. My treatments are very unique as they take place fully clothed and on a mat on the floor. During my sessions, I use my hands, knees, and feet for deep pressure along with movement to help you feel better.

Nothing makes me happier than having a client tell me that they have never felt “anything like this” before. I pride myself on discovering and treating the root cause of your pain.

When I’m not working, you can find me curled up with a good book and a cup of tea, lifting weights, or running after my 3 kids.

FAQs

Why do you massage on the mat?

It helps you get the best treatment.

Mat based treatment encourages your body to relax and improve mobility. It allows me to access your tissues slowly and deeply making pain and stress a thing of the past.

You don't use oil at all?

Nope.

The only time I may use oil is if I am working on your abdomen.

How much time should I book?

It Depends...

Mat based massage deeply works the tissues, but it takes time to achive to level of depth the create change. If you only have 1-2 areas that need help or you're short on time, a 60 minute session is perfect. I will always recommend you book a 90 or 120 minute session if you would like more specific work or have more than 1-2 areas you would like treated.

Do I have to take my clothes off?

Nope!

Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move in.  Most people wear clothing they would wear to work out in.

Does the treatment hurt?

No!

Your massage doesn't have to hurt to be effective. There may be some discomfort when I find an area that is restricted, but I always work within your pain tolerance. If you experience any pain or discomfort during our session, please tell me! I'm always happy to stop or modify your treatment to suit your needs.

I'm self-conscious about...

You are perfect just as you are.

I have seen and worked on all types of bodies over the years. Nothing is gross or ugly. You are beautiful.

What is your cancellation policy?

I get it, life happens!

There is no fee if notification is given at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. If I receive less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged the full appointment fee. I honour my policy in reverse, offering you a free treatment if I cancel on you with less than 48 hours notice.

EXCEPTION: If I am able to fill the appointment then there will be no charge to you. This means that if you can't make your appointment, you can offer your appointment spot to a family member or friend.

This is to protect my time and allow me to try to fill the spot. Think about your appointment as if it was a sporting event or concert ticket. If you can't make the event due to illness or life circumstances, you still are required to pay for the ticket.

Is your space accessible?

Yes

There is ample parking in the u-shaped parking lot. There is an elevator you can take to my second floor office. There is a doorbell outside if you need assistance entering the office.

Will my insurance cover the treatment?

Maybe

Each insurance plan offers different coverage, many companies cover massage therapy treatments.  It is best to check with your provider to see what your plan covers.

I'm sick. Now what?

Please cancel your appointment

I ask that you give me as much notice as possible so I can try to fill the appointment. In the even I can fill the appointment no charge will occur.  If I cannot fill the appointment, my cancellation policy is in effect.
